アーティストインアイランド 2020
長崎県内の離島各地で様々な文化芸術の取り組みが行われる「長崎しまの国際芸術祭」。その一環として、小値賀でも昨年度からアーティストの受け入れをはじめました。
数ヶ月、小値賀に滞在していただき、その中で感じたことなどをアーティストの作品制作に活かしていただきます。アーティストのもつアイデアと島の歴史・文化、そして町民との交流が混じり合い出来上がる作品となります。短期滞在では見えない小値賀の魅力は、アーティストのアイデア・作品を介すとどのような形となって見えてくるのか…。
普段、島ではなかなか触れることのできないアート活動をこの機会にお楽しみいただけましたら幸いです。
Artist In Island 2020
Artist-in-Island is a project organized by Islands of Nagasaki International Art Festival. Its goal is to promote cultural activities in the remote islands of Nagasaki Prefecture.
Artists stay anywhere from several weeks to several months on an island, exploring its landscapes, interacting with locals, learning about the island's history and culture.
All the while, they create art inspired by their experience, with the local community actively taking part in the creative process.
今年度について
今年度は、コロナ禍につきアーティストが小値賀に滞在して活動することが不可能であるため、オンライン滞在という形式を採択しました。作品も主にオンライン上で公開します。コラボレーションするアーティストは、昨年に引き続きアムステルダムを拠点に活動する Studio The Future です。Studio The Future と島民が一緒に動画作品を制作する内容となっています。また期間中は小値賀町民がよりオランダに興味関心を抱き、国際理解・交流を促すことを目的に、オランダの文化に触れながら制作を楽しむキットの配布やオンラインワークショップの開催も行います。
Specific to 2020
This year, the project will take place online due to COVID-19. The artist lineup includes Studio The Future from last year's Artist-in-Island@OJIKA ISLAND. The artistic duo will make video art, using the footage filmed by Ojika's locals. Another exciting project is the Dutch-themed Christmas card workshop. Participants will get a chance to learn about Dutch culture using an exciting kit we have prepared.

STUDIO THE FUTURE（スタジオ・ザ・フューチャー）
2013 年に設立。オランダ・アムステルダム を拠点とする出版社です。編集、デザイン スタジオ、キュレーター、アーティストユ ニットなど実験的な試みにフォーカスし活動しています。昨年は、 小値賀に2週間滞在し、 「Stories from Ojika town」 というテーマで作品を 制作・展示しました。
me to te（メトテ）
南島原市在住。宮崎友理子氏によるアートプロジェクト。ロンドンへの短期留学や長崎県美術館でのイベント企画経験をもとに、今年初参加。全体的な運営のサポートとオンラインワーク ショップの企画兼講師。

Artist-in-Island＠OJIKA ISLAND 2020 is organized by 布袋座二〇一九 (Hoteiza Ni Maru Ichi Kyu): an Ojika-based group of volunteers whose goal is to promote cultural activities on the island as well as to preserve the island's cultural heritage. The project is supported by Nagasaki Prefecture, with additional financial support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

STUDIO THE FUTURE
The creative process of the artist duo, who runs an Amsterdam-based design studio, incorporates thorough research, attention to nuance, and context placement. Believing that small ideas can carry a large impact, they established a publishing company in 2013 in hopes of communicating these ideas through the print medium. Last year they spent two weeks in Ojika as a part of the Artist-in-Island project, creating a zine titled “Stories from Ojika town” as well as several art installations in collaboration with the local community.
me to te
The “me to te” project stresses the importance of using your eyes to view and hands to make art. Its founder, Yuriko Miyazaki, believes that these two practices can greatly improve one's quality of life. During this year's Artist-in-Island@OJIKA ISLAND, Miyazaki will conduct an online workshop for Junior High School Students in Ojika Island as well as help out with the overall project management. With her experience as an event planner at the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum and her passion for art, Miyazaki is an exciting new addition to this year's artist lineup.

オランダテーマの紙で、冬のグリーティングカードをつくろう!
お家にいながらプロジェクトに参加できる、クリスマスカードをつくるための制作キットをつくりました。
STUDIO THE FUTURE の二人が暮らす、オランダの生活や文化を垣間見ることのできる風景写真等をコラージュした色とりどりの紙を切り貼りして、大切な人へ贈るカードをつくりましょう。

中学生にオンラインワークショップを実施します！
制作キットを使い、小値賀中学校の学生を対象にオンラインワークショップを開催します。ゲストに STUDIO THE FUTURE を招き、材料の紙に使われている写真をもとにオランダの暮らしや文化にまつわる話を伺い国際交流を楽しみます。

Tjobo Kho × OJIKAPPAN
–オランダのグラフィックデザイナーTjobo Kho（チョボ・コー）と、小値賀の活版印刷所OJIKAPPAN（オヂカッパン）のコラボレーション企画として、カードを制作します。小値賀からインスピレーションを受けてデザインされたカードは、完成後小値賀での配布に加え、オランダで販売される予定です。

Memories From Ojika Island ～2 letters～ will be released on various SNS platforms, including YouTube, as well as on the online gallery at the end of January 2021. This will be a joined project between STUDIO THE FUTURE and 布袋座二〇一九.
Dutch-themed Christmas Card Workshop
Let's make a Christmas card using a very special kit!
This exciting kit prepared by Yuriko Miyazaki of me to te includes a photo collage that will allow you to get a glimpse into the Dutch lifestyle and culture. Use the photos from the collage to make your own original Dutch-themed Christmas postcard.

Online Workshop for Junior High School Students
Junior high school students in Ojika Island will have an opportunity to participate in an online workshop using the kit. STUDIO THE FUTURE will join the workshop overseeing the creative process and inspiring students with stories about their home country.

Tjobo Kho × OJIKAPPAN
Dutch graphic designer Tjobo Kho and Ojika Island letterpress printing studio OJIKAPPAN will collaborate to create an original postcard. The card will be available in Ojika as well as the Netherlands.
